Obituary

Albert Frank Powell, 82, of Parks Township went to be with the Lord February 18, 2016.  He was born October 20, 1933 in Parks Township, Armstrong County, to Frank M. Powell and Bertha (Betty) Ritter Powell.  Albert was a member of the First United Methodist church in Leechburg, Pa and a graduate from Vandergrift High School class of 1952.  He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958, stationed in Nurenburg, Germany.  He was employed at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Company for 43 years as a maintenance Supervisor in the Bagdad plant where he retired from in 1995.  Albert was a member of Syria Shrine, Kiskiminetas Lodge #617 F. & A.M., Coudersport Consistory where he received the Meterious Serive Award, and was a secretary/treasurer of Kiski Valley Coudersport Club.  Albert enjoyed feeding the birds and deer, watching the Pirates and Steelers games, and going to breakfast with the retiree group from Allegheny Ludlum Steel but most of all Albert loved his family and going on vacations with them to Pymatuning State Park and Erie.  Albert is survived by his wife, Alice M. (Lowman) Powell, who he married July 4, 1959.  Also surviving are two sons, Michael of Vandergrift and Brad of Pittsburgh, two daughters, Dianne (John) Stuckman of Gibsonia, and Nancy (Dan) Wirick of Gilpin Township, six grandsons Travis Wilson, Grant, Garrett, and Parker Stuckman, Zach and Chase Wirick, a granddaughter Michelle Powell, a sister, Dorothy (James) Miller of Apollo and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Chandler of New Bethlehem, who had passed away February 12, 2016.   Family and Friends will be received on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a service immediately following at 8:00 pm at The Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. 2842 River Road Vandergrift, PA 15690 with Pastor Lloyd Riggle officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coudersport Consistory, Valley of Coudersport, P.O.
