Arthur "Ray" Murray, 77, of Vandergrift, died peacefully at home Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Born March 7, 1936, he was a son of the late Leonore and Charles Murray of Keppel Hill. A graduate of Vandergrift High School, Ray was employed at U.S. Steel, in Vandergrift, and The Yackety-Yak Diner. He also previously owned Ray's Hobbies in Vandergrift. His favorite pastimes were showing his classic Lincoln, model railroading, circus model building and spending time with his grandsons. He also loved to go to the Pittsburgh Zoo. A member of Train Collectors Association and Circus Model Builders of America, Ray also volunteered at the Casino Theatre at the beginning of its restoration. Ray is survived by his wife, Linda Shields Murray; two daughters, Lisa Shields (Bob) Schrader, of Vandergrift, and Cindy Shields (John) Phillips, of Parks Township; and two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Schrader. He also is survived by his brothers, Charles (Barbara) Murray and Carl Murray; nephew, Edward (Jamie) Murray; and nieces, Patty (Bob) Desiderato and Laurie (Kevin) Womeldorf. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother and his niece, Cindy Murray. Ray loved his cats, Midnight, Dusty, Sunshine and Tigger. They were his constant companions.
