Bernard Gongaware, 80, of Vandergrift passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was born on October 24, 1944, and the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Newhouse) Gongaware. Bernie attended Baldwin High School, before entering the Military, He was a veteran of the United States Army. Bernie was employed with U.S. Steel. He loved his family, taking care of his friends and his pets. He enjoyed telling stories. He is survived by two brothers John (Kathy) Gongaware of Leechburg, George (Fatima) Gongaware of Green Castle Pa. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Fraces and Janey.

Family and friends will be received on Friday May 2, 2025, from 10am till the time of service at 11am, with Father Allen Polczynski CCR. at the Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. 2842 River Road Vandergrift, Pa 15690, 724-567-7006. Interment will be at Twin Valley Cemetery; veterans service with the Vandergrift honor guard.
