Obituary

Cherie Lee (Johnson) Jackson, 65, of Leechburg, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026. She was born on June 1, 1960, and was the daughter of the late Lee and Cherie (Rupert) Johnson.

Cherie lived her life with a creative soul and a heart that never stopped giving. She loved making crafts, decorating for every season, and finding joy in the little details that made a house feel like home. Family gatherings were her happiest place: cookouts filled with laughter, holidays where she made sure everyone had a seat and a plate, and countless afternoons spent surrounded by the people she loved most. She was known for trying new recipes, baking treats, and hosting with a warmth that made everyone feel welcome.

Some of the best memories with Cherie were made in the car, windows down and radio blasting, singing along to her favorite songs. Those rides were full of stories, laughter, and the kind of moments her family will hold onto forever.

Cherie was a graduate of Freeport Area High School and continued her education at art school, a reflection of her lifelong creativity. She honorably served in the United States Army. Throughout her life, she worked in many roles within her community and served as Vice President on the board of Adelfi Village. She cared deeply for children and opened her heart and home by fostering and adopting, giving love where it was needed most. Above all, her greatest passion and purpose was her family.

Cherie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jeffrey Jackson of Leechburg; her daughters: Brandy (Kenneth) Johnson-Hann of Apollo, Brittany (Joe Wilson) Jackson of Springdale, Ava (Colton) Walker, Britney Jackson of Vandergrift, Melanie Jackson of Leechburg, and Kazusa Hasegawa of Japan; her sons, Jeffrey (Audriana) Jackson of Climer and Alonzo Jackson of Monessen; her sisters, Candy Johnson and Tina Johnson, both of Vandergrift; her brothers: Mickey (Diane) Johnson of Virginia, Shawn (Kelsey) Johnson of Washington State, and Alan (Shirley) Johnson of Massachusetts; eleven grandchildren: Naudia, Danika, Christian, Aiden, Noah, Colbie, Leonardo, Bella Mae, Lilyana, Athena, and Kaizen; and six great‑grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Cherie is preceded in death by her brother Darrin Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family's convenience. Arrangements have been entrusted to Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc., 2842 River Road, Vandergrift, PA 15690, 724‑567‑7006. Online condolences may be offered at gamblefh.com
