Donald Owen Townsend, 71, of Apollo went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2021. He was born on June 25, 1949 and the son of the late Dale and Rosella (Roberts) Townsend. Donald was a graduate of Elders Ridge High School class of 1967, a Staff Sergeant of the United States Air Force, and served in the Army National Guard. Don was an ordained minister and a member of the Kiski United Free Methodist Church. He was a worship leader and was always involved in the Church planting. Don loved music and playing his guitar, reading science fiction, and playing computer games. His sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Donald is survived by his wife of 51 years Sherry Doyle Townsend of Apollo, two daughters: Sheila Townsend of Hyde Park and Raina (Christopher) Liti of Leechburg, three sisters: Sylvia (David) Harman of Shelocta, Jule (Larry) Lindsay of Spring Church, and Cindy Townsend of Blacks Hollow, a brother-in-law Richard Walker of Shelocta, four grandchildren: Rachel Liti of Freeport, Kira Liti of Leechburg and extended family Megan (Daren) Maruna of Ohio, and Eric Majersky of West Leechburg, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dr. McFadden who provided wonderful care and ministries to the family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson Michael Adam Michadick, brother Dale Townsend, and sister Rosalie Walker. Friends and Family will be received on Thursday March 11, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 10:00 am with a service at 11:00 am with a lifelong friend Pastor Paul Eckenrode officiating at the Janette L.
