Obituary

Donna’s life was a testament to the strength of family and the joy found in simple pleasures.

Donna Jean McAllister, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, in her hometown of North Vandergrift, surrounded by the comfort and love of her family. Born on March 19, 1947, in North Vandergrift, Donna’s nearly eight decades were marked by warmth, humor, and the steadfast devotion she showed to those she cherished.

Donna’s life was a testament to the strength of family and the joy found in simple pleasures. She took genuine delight in baking, often filling her home with the inviting aroma of homemade treats that became a signature of her hospitality. Friends and family will fondly remember evenings spent at her kitchen table, sharing laughter over a game of poker or gathering to watch her favorite Lifetime movies, where Donna’s quick wit and infectious laugh created memories that will be treasured for years to come.

An avid football enthusiast, Donna fervently cheered for the Dallas Cowboys, expressing her loyalty with every touchdown and game day gathering. Her passion for the sport was only matched by her ability to bring people together, forging strong bonds over shared celebrations and spirited conversations.

Donna’s enduring spirit lives on in her loving family. She is survived by her beloved son, David McAllister, and his wife Deborah; her devoted daughter, Marci Amick, and son-in-law David Amick; and her cherished grandsons, Zachary McAllister and Harrison Amick. Donna’s kindness, resilience, and unwavering love will also be remembered by her sister, Mary Jane Carman whose close relationship was a source of comfort  and many nieces, and cousins whom will miss her dearly.

Friends and family will fondly remember evenings spent at her kitchen table, sharing laughter over a game of poker.

In remembering Donna’s long and meaningful journey, her family acknowledges those who preceded her in rest, including her husband Harry McAllister, her father, Fred Suman, and her mother, Edna Thomas. She was reunited with her dear granddaughter, Jaycee Amick; her brother, Fred Suman; and her sisters, Harriet Hall and Dorothy Harding—each a cherished part of Donna’s story and spirit.

Family and friends are invited to honor Donna’s life at Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home, 2842 River Road, Vandergrift, PA 15690. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Donna Jean McAllister will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering family devotion will remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
