Earl Dwight Pettigrew, 86, of Whittier Street in Vandergrift, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 12, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 15, 1932, in Gilpin Township; the son of the late Herbert and Mabel (Walker) Pettigrew. Earl was a graduate of Leechburg High School. He went on to serve our country in the United States Navy. He was employed at the Allegheny Ludlum (ATI) and Parkhurst Foods. He retired after serving the community of Vandergrift for 39 years as a policeman. Earl was an integral part of the foundation, building and ministry of the Christian Fellowship Center, Jeannette PA
When not working; he was a co-pastor of Living Waters Family Worship Center in North Huntingdon. He was also a Senior Scout Leader and member of Rainbow Control.
Earl's compassion and love knew no ends. He offered love and support not only to his children but also to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and freely passed his knowledge and skills on to anyone who would ask. He could often be found working on a project in his wood shop and much of his handiwork can be found in his own home and those of his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; Norma Jean (Hansen) Pettigrew of Vandergrift. His son Jerry (Elaine) Pettigrew of Lower Burrell, five daughters: Theresa Musser of Apollo, Michelle Galligher of Cape Coral, Florida, Christine (William) Johnston of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Jacqueline Heder of Estero, Florida, and Annette (John) Howe of Fort Myers, Florida, and a sister Myrtel Prunty of Gilpin Township. He has 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Herbert and Mabel Pettigrew, he is preceded in death by two brothers: William and Kenneth Sr., and a nephew Kenneth Pettigrew Jr.
