87 of Washington Twp. went to be with our lord,  Sunday April 27, 2014 with his family by his side. He was  Born December 14, 1926 in Oklahoma, and  was raised in West Vandergrift, he  lived in Plum for a few years, married and moved to Washington Township where he and wife still resides. He was the son of the late Blair Bowman and Jenny(George) King. Mr. Bowman was a Locomotive Engineer on The Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, where he retired after 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting , fishing, camping, and traveling with his family and friends.  Survivors include his wife Lois (Flick) Bowman for 67 years. A daughter Joy L. Riggle of Gilpin, two brothers  Lee Bowman of Natrona heights,  Paul  Bowman of Leechburg, three Sisters Ruby White of Allison Park,  LaRue Bowman of McKees Rocks, Patty Lorent of Vandergrift, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great  grandson and many wonderful nieces and nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Edwin is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherry Lynn, a son Edwin (Larry) Jr. two brothers Clyde Bowman of Vandergrift, James Bowman of East Vandergrift and  a sister Charlotte of Georgia.  Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday April 30, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. at The Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc.  2842 River Road Vandergrift, PA 15690.  724-567-7006 and on Thursday at The Union Presbyterian Church in Washington twp.  from 10 am. till time of service at 11 am. with Reverend John Simpson officiating.
