Esther Delores Makowski, 95, of Vandergrift went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 12, 2018. She was born on June 10, 1922, the daughter of the late August and Lucy (Caiaccia) Pugliese. Esther managed her own beauty salon for 45 years, and was the Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts in Vandergrift for 49 years. She was a member of many organizations including The Victorian Vandergrift Historical Society, The Vandergrift Garden Club, and The Women of Moose in Tarentum Chapter 0296. She loved collecting S'mores, dancing to Polka's, baking, crocheting, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters Christine (Ronald) McLaughlin, of Auburn, New Hampshire, Francine Whaley, of Apollo, son G. Vincent (Amy) Makowski of Vandergrift; brother Melvyn Pugliese, of Arizona, two sisters Theresa Eggert, of Pittsburgh and Elaine Marsilio, of California, grandson Tyler (Jessica) Whaley, three granddaughters Trina (Mark) Abbott, Miriah (Doug) Kimmell, Samantha Curtis, two great-grandsons Nicholas and Christopher, and greatgranddaughter Lucy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Francis Makowski, son John Makowski, brothers Fred, Richard, Eugene, and Arnold Pugliese, a sister RoseAnne Hileman, and grandson Marcus Whaley.
