Gladys L. (Ednie) Adair of Youngstown, Ohio, formerly of Vandergrift went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Northside Medical Center. She was born in Avonmore on September 23, 1920 to the late Merritt and Ruth (Lukehart) Ednie. Gladys had lived most of her life in Vandergrift. She was a member of the Vandergrift First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Gladys bowled in two leagues and played cards in the Tuesday Women's 500 Club. She worked 20 years for Byer's Superette in Vandergrift. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Wm. Sloan Adair who died September 23, 2008, A brother Merritt L. Ednie who died April 25, 1991, a sister Mylessis M. George on March 22, 2009, and a grandson Richard Ashbaugh on June 28, 1992. She is survived by her children Vernon (Trudy) McDonald, Youngstown, OH and two daughters - Linda Ashbaugh of Vandergrift and Susan (John) Pezzana of Youngstown; grandchildren Gina Lynn (Gary) Beck of Allegheny Township, Dr. David (Diana) McDonald of North Lima, Ohio, and Kristin (Matt) Campbell of Streetsboro, Ohio; great-children Alison Jaskiewicz of Hubbard, Ohio, Brandon Jaskiewicz of Vandergrift, Cassie Jaskiewicz of Allegheny Township, and Shane Campbell of Streetsboro, Ohio. Two brothers Ralph L. Ednie of Toledo, Ohio and Richard L. Ednie of Temperance, Michigan. Two Aunts Richard (Nancy) Ednie, Ralph ( June) Ednie and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 11am to 1pm Saturday at the Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. 2842 River Road, Vandergrift. The funeral service will be 1p.m. Saturday in the funeral home following the viewing by Pastor Michael Mrasz. Burial will be Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Lower Burrell.
