Gladys Leeman, 106, of Arnold passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2023. She was born on March 2, 1917, and the daughter of the late Frank and Alva (Patterson) Mitcheltree. Gladys was the last surviving sibling of one sister and five brothers. She married George Leeman at the age of 17 and moved into a house constructed by her father. The stone on the house came from the dairy farm they would own five years later. They bought the 100-acre farm in Markle from George's mother where they raised their two sons and two daughters.

Gladys and George were in the Dairy Farming business for forty years. They first delivered milk by the bottle then customers came to the farm to purchase gallon jugs of milk. Gladys and George enjoyed gathering with the neighbors on weekends. They were often playing the guitar and mandolin and even recording music in their home.

Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Sarah (James) Artman of Parks township and Carol Thickey of Carlisle; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Leeman; two sons; and three grandchildren.
