Iris Lynn Lanning, 82 of Parks Township passed away on August 29, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Irma Moore. She will be remembered as a woman whose love for her family shaped the heart of her life, and whose warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Iris was a graduate of Vandergrift High School and a member of the First Church of God in North Apollo. She worked many jobs in the community over the years, meeting life with dedication and steady effort. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping with family and walking her dogs. No matter where she was or what she was doing, taking care of her family was her number one commitment. That devotion defined her in the most meaningful way. She also brought joy to those around her with a love of laughter and a smile that everyone cherished.

She is survived by her beloved husband, John Lanning of sixty four years, and by her sons, Mathew Lanning and his wife Bonnie, Timothy Lanning and Daniel Lanning and his wife Jacqueline. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Cheryl Manners. Iris’s memory will live on in her grandchildren, Victoria Parson, Meighan Lanning, Justine Lanning, Samantha Robinson, Raven Lanning, Gage Lanning, and in her great-grandchildren, Isaiah Parson, Mayzie Parson and Eli Lanning, Brantley Martin, Beaux Martin, Bayla Lanning, Linkin Robinson, Dukota Lanning, Bryson Lanning, Jaylin Lanning.  Each of them carries forward the love, care, and kindness she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Moore; her mother, Irma (Cox) Moore; and her grandson, Joshua Lanning, her sister Nola McQuaide Their memories remained part of her life and story, and now she is reunited with those who went before her.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 1, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home, 2842 River Road, Vandergrift, PA 15690. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Iris Lynn Lanning will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her hardworking spirit, her laughter, her treasured smile, and above all, the deep and abiding love she gave to her family.
