Janet LaRue Gibson, 89, of New Kensington and raised in North Vandergrift passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 15, 2023. She was born on April 24,1934, and the daughter of the late Garnet and Mary (Russell) Alexander. Janet was a graduate of Vandergrift High School Class of 1952 and continued her education as a Nutritional Aid at Penn State University. She was a member of the Vermont Baptist Church in New Kensington, PA. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh sports teams and loved football. Janet treasured her time with her family. Her grandchildren meant the world to her.

In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel H. Terrance; her second husband, Alfred Gibson; and her sister, Norma Jean Hadley.

Janet is survived by one aunt, Margaret Sutton; her two sons, Tracy (Gina) Gibson of Vandergrift and Mark (Karen) Gibson of Kittanning; three daughters: Felice Diane (Martin) White of New Kensington, Merri C. Gibson of Greensburg, and Patrice M. Terrance of Arnold; 14 grandchildren: Brett M. Skinner, James G. Skinner, Martina R. Booker, Korrina Booker, Errick M. Harris, Marshana R. Harris, Mark S. Gibson II, Alessandra K. Gibson, Dion A. Harris, Sieara L. Gibson, Trey C. Gibson, Mycela S. Gibson, Alexis P. Gibson, and Malcolm X. Gibson; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
