Jerry Carnahan, 86, of Apollo passed away on June 7, 2024. Born on August 1, 1937, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Zelma (Platt) Carnahan. Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Bell Avon High School and retired from Babcock and Wilcox where he was employed as a Chemist. Jerry is a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Vandergrift American Legion and Pine Run EMC. He loved country music and played the guitar in two bands, Country Caravan and Country Commanders with his brother, Smokey. Jerry was kindhearted and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his dog, Brandy.

Jerry is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Bernadine (Strong) Carnahan of Apollo; three daughters, Paula Hirshka of Apollo, Sheri Stewart of Apollo, and Carla (Ara) Jones of Leechburg; a son, Collin (Tina) Bowser of State College; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Costello of Washington PA; a son-in-law, David McIvor of Apollo; a brother, Dick (Beverly) Carnahan of Avonmore; six grandchildren: William, Lauren, Joshua, Dominick, Christian, and Nicholas; nine step-grandchildren, Kimberly, Tonya, Christy, Nathan, Natalie, Lynsey, Danielle, Andrea, and Taylor; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Val Jean (Swartz) Carnahan; his brother, Kenneth "Smokey" (Patricia) Carnahan; two stepchildren, Vicki McIvor and Thomas Cathers; three grandchildren: Ralph Antony Scanga, Ashley Loughner, and Adriana Moore; and a son-in-law, Paul Costello.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a service at 6:00 pm at the Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. 2842 River Road Vandergrift, PA 15690. 724-567-7006 with Pastor Darrell Ost. officiating. A private burial will take place at Pine Run Cemetery.
