LaRea Houston, 60, of Vandergrift, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2016. LaRea was born on July 12, 1956. She is the daughter of the late, Elmo Hartsfield Senior and Ethel Lee Nabors. As an active member of The New Life Baptist Church of Apollo, LaRea loved and adored her church family. She was a mother and grandmother but always found time to care for others as a Home Health Aide. Her faith and love kept the family together. She also cared for many of the neighborhood children, taking them to the drive in and the zoo. LaRea is survived by her son; LaBrean Hartsfield of Vandergrift; six sisters, Noreen Ward of North Carolina, Sharon Hartsfield of Vandergrift, Darlene Walker of Kepple Hill, Margaret Ann Hartsfield of Detroit Michigan, Vianne (Clifford) Butler of Vandergrift, Verna Chambers of North Vandergrift; two brothers, Elmo Hartsfield Jr. and Joseph Kennedy Jr. of Vandergrift; two grandchildren, Tehya and LaBrean II; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Elmo and Ethel; step father, Joseph Kennedy; and a nephew, Brandon Lockette. Family and friends will be received at The New Life Baptist Church of Apollo on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 11:00 am to the time of service at 12:00 pm with Pastor June Jeffries officiating.
