Mary Patricia Shelkey-Mrasz, 56, of Vandergrift, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017. She was born Oct. 26, 1960, the daughter of Elsie Lee (McCaughlin) Yockey and Eugene Shelkey. She spent more 20 years of her life dedicated to her work at West Haven Nursing Home. She had a love for baking and cooking, singing, traveling to the beach and caring for her animals, especially her beloved Abbey, Nicia, and surviving, her dog, Echo. She was an avid Steelers fan, and her favorite saying was, "Keep on keeping on!" She took pride in her military family and was very patriotic. Watching her children and grandchildren grow up and flourish meant the world to Mary. She will always be remembered for her warm heart and captivating smile. She is survived by her husband, Eric B. Mrasz; mother, Elsie Lee Yockey; her children, Heather Scott (Sierra Irwin), of Tarentum, Gretchen Scott (Sam Burton), of Vandergrift, Justin Akins (Kellie Crnkovich), of Brackenridge, and Taylor Akins (David Glabb), of Kittanning; stepchildren, John Mrasz, Alexis Mrasz (David Martin), Casey Lutz (Chris), Toni Parks, and Teri Akins; four sisters, Debbie Shelkey, Susan Shelkey, Laura Bowser and Kenna Boylstein (Jeff); four brothers, David Shelkey (Patty), Doneld Shelkey (Pam), Michael Shelkey (Deb), and Steve Shelkey; her nine grandchildren, Isaac Scott, Avery Scott, Easton Burton, Lacey, Ryder, Elam, Meadow, Gatlin, and Gage; and her dog, Echo. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, with a service starting at 8 p.m., at the JANETTE L.
