Mervin Dean Geer, 77, passed away on February 26, 2023. He was born on September 12, 1945, and was the son of the late Edison and Velma (Kepple) Geer. Dean was a graduate of Elders Ridge High School. He was employed at Vandergrift Foundry for 13 years before retiring from Avonmore Foundry in 2019. Dean was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Apollo. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and canning. His true passion was his love of his family and friends, especially his three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Dean is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy (Sheaffer) Geer; his son, Robert Dean (Lisa) Geer of Butler; his daughter, Tammy (Keith) Crisssman of Apollo; three grandchildren: Tyler Fortunato of Shelocta, Brittany (Michael) Cravener of Kittanning, and Shania (Jeffrey) Sacik of East Vandergrift; eight great-grandchildren: Evee, Eira, Xavier, Wyatt, Phoenix, Dante, Payton, and Amara; his four brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dean is preceded in death by his four sisters.
