Obituary

Richard L. Faber of Vandergirft, was born on March 18, 1935 in Heidelberg, PA, to Julius and Anna (Masko) Faber.  He passed peacefully from the physical world on March 23, 2016 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, with family and friends by his side.  He leaves behind the love of his life, Roseanne (Waros) Faber, two daughters Shari Cignetti and Michele Faber and her husband John McCarthy, a grandson Nick Cignetti and his girlfriend Ashlee Smith, dog and best friend Peanut Faber, and several granddogs and grandcats.  Richard was a creative and clever man with a wonderful sense of humor.  He was kind to children and animals, generous with his time and skills, and a loyal friend.  He enjoyed target shooting, and was a precision metalworker who could fix or make anything.  His daughters are especially appreciative of his ability to diagnose mechanical problems by long distance phone call. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Faber, good friend Donald Tishey, dog Cleo Faber, and many other dogs and cats.  Richard had a long and happy life.  He was a millwright, and retired from Allegheny Ludlum in 1995, then enjoyed nearly 21 years of retirement.  Over the course of his life he was presented with several challenges to his health, but was able to live an active and full life until the last few months.  We are grateful for our time with him and will smile each time we think of him. The family would like to thank the many employees of Allegheny Valley Hospital and Allegheny General Hospital who treated Richard with respect, skill and compassion, especially his niece Dana Fruechtel. Arrangements are being handled by the Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. and by Richards's request will be private.  The family suggests any memorial be in the form of donations to Animal Protectors of New Kensington or Orphans of the Storm of Kittanning.
