Robert Joseph Monheim Sr., 94, of Parks Township, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born July 14, 1926, and the son of the late Harry (Gertrude Brocke) Monheim. Bob was a United States Army Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service in WWII. He grew up in Lincoln-Lemington and served in the Army with the 9th division 47th Infantry Regiment, also known as the "Raiders." His unit fought at the Ludendorff Bridge near the town of Remagen. Bob attended Christ the King Parish in Leechburg. He was a member of the Plasters Union Local no. 526 and worked for the Pittsburgh School Board. He enjoyed flea markets, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by three sons: Robert (Kelly) Monheim Jr. of Parks Township, Charles (Sherry) Monheim of South Carolina, and Daniel (Carol) Monheim of Saltsburg; three daughters: Patricia Monheim of Parks Township, Linda Leo of Harrisburg, and Lisa (Hugh) Jamison of Maryland; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers: Harry, William, Paul, David, James, and Jack and his sister, Helen Hauck. Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, January 21, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 with full military honors from the Vandergrift Honor Guard at 6:30 pm at The Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. 2842 River Road Vandergrift, Pa (724) 567-7006. A Christian Mass will take place at Christ the King Parish in Leechburg on Friday, January 22 at 11:00 am with Father James Loew OSB. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery of Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's honor to Paws of Honor or Help Heal Veterans.
