William
Reefer
August 8, 1960 – January 7, 2026
William K. Reefer, 65, of Apollo, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026. Born on August 8, 1960, he was the son of Helen Reefer of Apollo and the late Robert Reefer.
Bill graduated from Kiski Area High School in 1978 then spent many years with Unit Drilling Company in Oklahoma before retiring from the oil drilling industry. After returning to his hometown, Bill worked in various jobs, including gas drilling at Key Energy Services, employment at Uncle Charley's Sausage, and Ace Sanitation Company. In his younger years, he was known for his energy and resourcefulness, often spending hours scrapping metal and riding his scooter around town, enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
His greatest joy was his family and friends. Bill often traveled to Tennessee and Oklahoma to visit his siblings, creating meaningful memories and adding adventure to his life. He loved fishing along quiet streams, camping under the stars, and cooking hearty meals for those he loved. He had a unique gift for turning ordinary spoons into instruments of rhythm, delighting everyone with playful tunes and spontaneous songs that brought laughter to every gathering.
He was a kind soul who cherished his time with his beloved companion Ann in Tennessee, embracing her grandchildren as his own. After her passing, Bill honored their love and memories. Later, he reunited with Carol and her grandchildren, who also held a special place in his heart.
Bill was boisterous and known for his vibrant personality. He truly embodied his nickname, "Wild Bill." He was a storyteller who never missed an opportunity to share a joke that was always delivered with his signature grin. His unique sense of humor and the love he shared with those closest to him will always be remembered.
Bill is survived by his mother, Helen Reefer of Apollo; his brother, James (Robyn) Reefer of Tennessee; his sisters: Robin (Fred) Haggerty of Apollo, Debra (Don) Cousins, and Janette (Donald) Gamble of Vandergrift; his aunts, Ruth (Brad) Bourdess of Apollo and Janet (Jim) Barnes of Connecticut; his uncle, William (Donna) Wiser of Saltsburg; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father, Bill was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Dorothy Wiser; his brother, Robert Reefer; his niece, Chrystal Fry; and two nephews, Michael Rupert and Jamie Podowick.
